2007 Trek 7.3fx (black)
Hey everyone my name is Sean I'm 32 years old and live in Lincoln, NE. I'm pretty much a complete bike newb seeing as I haven't rode a bike more than a couple times in over 15 years. Last summer I was kicking around the idea of buying one but never did. When I saw gas prices go up to $3.50 a gallon and with the talk of it going even higher that pretty much sealed the deal for me.
I was originally going to get a Schwinn Varsity from my local Walmart but after seeing my former roomates scowl (he rides a Gary Fisher Utopia) I decided to do a little research on it first...which is how I found this site. After numerous searching it seemed like there were few good things to be said about it so I decided to go down to my LBS (a week ago) and see what they had to offer. I was shocked to see how much good bikes cost nowadays.
I first looked at the Trek 7000 which was "alright" but didn't really care for the handlebars that came on the hybrids and it seemed that practically everyone on here was against suspension on a bike that would be used only on pavement. Next I looked at the fx models and really like them.
Because I didn't really want to spend a lot (already spending $180 more than the wally world bike) I was pretty much set on buying the 7.2fx but after doing some last minute reading and deciding to eat Ramen noodles for a month :D I went ahead and purchased the 7.3fx. One thing I noticed about the bike is that they (Trek) switched tires from the Race Lite Hardcase to a Satellite Elite Hardcase, how does this tire compare to the previous?
Anyways I've rambled on long enough...thanks for reading. :)
