So I was thinking about taking advantage of the Nashbar one day sale on shoes today and talked to an agent on their live chat about which shoes were good for a wide foot 12.5EEE and he said no cycling shoes were made over the width of E. Is this true? Any other wide foot guys with good road shoe experiences?

i sometimes get a wide shoe, simply so i have some wiggle room for my toes.sometimes beacause of the cut of the shoe.
but i ordered my first pair of cycling shoes off of ebay and, they are plenty wide at the toe.
they are diadora elite 2000s and,i only paid like $25 for them and, they are plenty wide, even with thick white socks on. however i had no idea that the sole was so slippery and, when trying them on i just about did a 360 somersault. why must the sole be so slippery.
ANYWAY,i dont actually see a width in the shoe or on the box.but the toebox is pretty wide, but i dont know if they are 5e wide.hope this helps.

I have size 13.5 EE feet, and have had pretty good luck with both SIDI Megas and Specialized shoes. I am currently wearing a set of Specialized Sonoma 2's, wich fit very comfortably. They are technically an offroad shoe, but work well with SPD pedals on my road bikes.

Sidi Mega's start at 2E. I'm a 12.5EE and my 47mega's fit great with a medium weight wool sock. I can easily see a EEEE fitting with adjustment. BTW: Nashbar/Performance customer service is iffy at best.
Lake www.lakecycling.com/ offers cycling shoes in normal and wide widths. worth a shot.

I agree with the SIDI megas except they are hella expensive. I've also had good luck with a pair of shimanos. I don't remember the model name, but it has since been supplanted by their MT40. It's a mountain shoe. In general shimanos run kind of narrow though.

Size 13EEE here. I use Specialized BG Sport shoes with Look Keo Sprint pedals and they work great. http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=26151
Cheap, too.

I just recently purchased these Shimano M225E shoes. They are MB spd style shoes. Great shoes with lots of room even with heavy socks. I tried the local bike shops first but no wide were in store to try on. Looks like most of the larger sizes are sold out. I know why. :) The right shoes make such a difference.

I just picked up a pair of new/old stock Sidi Genius 4 Mega size 50 road shoes that fit my size 15EEEE perfectly for $60!
Keep your eyes open for deals on close-outs of last year's models, etc. I also have a pair of Sidi's Bullet Mega MTB shoes that I bought from my LBS for $99. They have about 2K miles on them now and are in perfect shape.
I love the Sidis... excellent quality.
Good riding,
