Any ideas on where I can find sunglasses with an extra wide fit?

I have a fat head and I bought a pair of non-polarized Ray-Ban RB 3194 and had prescription lenses put in at my optometrist. I liked them so much I ordered a pair of polarized sunglasses as well. This place had the lowest price that I could find.

I had a major problem finding sunglasses a while back. I'm not sure if they are specifically wide fit, but they were the only ones that didn't give ME headaches.

Try Wiley-X SG-1 sunglasses. Retail for about $140, but you can pick them up on Ebay for about $40. I have 3 pair now. Seriously....to say they rock to the end of the world is an understatement!!!!

Looks like they have more models now:

These are shown as goggles, but mine are sunglasses which arms can pop off and strap clip on so they can be glasses or goggles. Interchangeable lenses, polarized lenses, ballistics rated (can safely double as safety glasses), etc...

Native Eyewear Nano 2 sunglasses are a great wide-fit frame with full coverage wrap around lenses. I tried a zillion pairs of shades on before finding the Nano 2's. They're the only ones that don't make me look like I grabbed 'em off the kiddie rack.
Plus, they come with polarized brown lenses, clear, orange, and yellow (the last 3 aren't polarized, but the orange and yellow offer great contrast in "flat light" situations like when it's overcast.)
About $110, so they're in the middle of what I consider the "pricey" range for sunglasses; but I've found them to be well worth it.

I wear 7 3/4" in a fitted cap and I like Ray Ban's and never have a hard time getting some at the Sunglasses Hut in the mall.

I use Nashbar coyote durangos -- recommended for a "big face".

Cheap, interchangeable lenses...when i borke my first pair i simply shrugged. I like em, but you will look like a bug from a science fiction movie.

Usually you can get then for about $30, give or take.

This does not make sense; but, it's how it is. I wear my Rydon's by RUdy Project. My right eye gets all tired & the next day it starts twitching. What does not make sense, they are the same Rx as my regular driving glasses. I wear my regular glasses and I don't seem to have the problem. It's not a problem with the Rudy's but my eye. I wear my older Performance sunglasses and my right eye does not seem so fatigued and that is an older Rx. Weird. So I wear my cheapie Performance style sunglasses. Guess, I need a new eye exam , but still does not make sense.
To me, the Rydon's seem to fit my narrow face and seem pretty wide in my case. Do like those Wiley X's.
Maybe they would be poorly vented?

My first guess is that your Rydons let too much air or such at your eye, particularly on right side causing the eye problems. You don't have it with them driving because there isn't wind coming at your face. Try the ones that give you trouble while driving (or vica versa) to check it out.

If you mean the Wiley-Xs may be poorly vented, not at all. Occasionally I have steam up problem when I first put them on and I'm sweating, but if I'm moving (even just walking sometimes) its not an issue at all. I've been so impressed that I ended up with 3 pairs, one for riding, one for driving, and one more for giggles (safety glasses when mowing, taking on an outing, etc..).

I have three pairs of Cocoons. They fit fine and they can cover glasses if you wear them. Wrap around so they block out harmful UVA and UVB. Not easily scratched. Give them a look see.

Those wiley's look pretty cool. Where can they be purchased. Sounds like a plan, I'll do the sunglass' switcharoo and see what happens. Pretty much I wear them only while cycling. Love the optics. Wish the problem would go away.

The Wiley-X website has a store locator to find one in your area. In my case, originally, it was mostly only at optical/eyeglass centers. Its good to go and see how they look/feel. I bought a pair like that and paid through the nose, then found I could get them for about 1/3 the price on Ebay.

So look up local store to test wear them, then buy them on Ebay. You can pick 'em up on Ebay for about $35-50.

I use the Smith Threshold--most of their glasses are way to small for me but the Threshold fits well and uses interchangeable lenses.

I have the same exact pair — and a pretty big head. They've worked fine for 6+ years.

For the record, when I was having trouble and searching based on a thread I started, I tried the Oakleys as one of the first pair suggested. They seemed pretty tight to me.

Some Oakley frames are smaller than others. I wear both Pro M-Frames (hingeless) and Half-Jackets and swear by them both. Interchangeable lenses are the she-it. And, they have about the best lenses anywhere. My everyday prescription frames and lenses are Oakley.

The Cocoons have a size called the Wideline that is made for extra wide faces. They are designed to be worn over prescription glasses, but work great for full wrapped protection as well if you don't wear prescription eyewear.

100% polarized, UV400 protection, lifetime warranty on the frames, and a one year scratch resistant warranty on the lenses.

They also have adjustable temples that really help give you the exact fit for your face. There are a bunch of different sizes and lens colors as well, so you can make sure you get exactly what you are looking for.
The Cocoons are under $40! Definitely worth checking out...

yes ebay of course is cheaper, I too have found some great deals.. The wileys on ebay are sold many times by the soldiers from Iraq. The PT-1's are pretty standard issue over there.. Opticsplanet is a good source for an authorized seller..

I got a pair of those Wiley X's...one of the 'benefits' of the Army. LOL. I don't really care for them, they fit your face weird.

I wear a 7 3/4 hat, and I wear Oakley 'Fives'. They fit great, and really fit close all around your eyes without being annoying.

I've bought Bolle Vigilantes at Nashbar and find them to fit well, in addition to being realtively inexpensive when Nashbar has them on sale.

Funny.....I've been wearing them for about 1 1/2 years now and never, ever had a pair of sunglasses that seem to fit my face so well.

My wife found a pair of these (http://www.sunglassesgiant.com/oamfrsu.html) in great shape for $.15 at Goodwill today.
