Great Lakes - Belated Udder Century ride report -- can't top this one for adventure

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I had hoped to meet up with your group, but I thought it was going to rain and didn't look up the meeting time because it cleared up at the last minute and became a fabulous day -- most of it, anyway.
I had a great ride, though some stomach pains were bothering me. I was averaging well over 17, which is good for me, and then the stomach got worse. By 60 I was in horrible pain, by 88, I had to stop.
In short, the Udder Century saved my life, because if I hadn't been on it, I'd never have gotten to the hospital so fast. I had a rare type of intestinal obstruction. They discovered this after the SAG made/encouraged me to go to the ER because I could barely walk.
After 6 days in the hospital and a lovely new abdominal incision, I hope to finish the next 12 next year.
I expect I'll be off the bike a few more weeks (just in time for insanely beautiful weather).
Hope to catch you guys perhaps at a July century.
Susan:)

Hope to see you all at some July centuries! I had ER surgery last Tuesday and am recovering well. Thanks for the good wishes. The shame of it is it was a fabulous course and a gorgeous day . . . for the most part!

I think I saw your ambulance. As I came past it was just pulling away and there were several other SAG vehicles there also. I think everything was gone once the others came through. We were talking about you at the start thinking you might have gone on ahead of us since we took off a little later than planned.
Anywho, I am soooo glad you are ok and take it from me the last 12 miles you missed weren't all that fabulous although there was a downhill finish.
Recover well; hope to meet you soon, Crystal

Hopefully the surgeon feels like negotiating when I go back Monday. This weather is too nice to be off the bike, but honestly the rattling wouldn't feel great at this point.
