Built the bike up and took it for a 2 mile ride. It shifted well and nothing fell off but I need to raise the handelbars & I can't figure out how to raise them. Is it possible to raise them? here are some pics:

;) There is an Allen Bolt in the pivot of your adjustable stem. Loosen that, raise the stem angle to a comfortable height and retighten. That help ya?

Make sure you tighten it up to proper torque so you don't either strip the Allen Head or have a stem that randomly changes height!

loosen the allen head , the pivot point and raise the stem, tighten bolt. If you want to raise the handle bar in the same plane they are currently, you will need a stem-fork steerer extender. Have not used one so can't comment on their performance.

You have to just about take it apart to adjust it. It's grooved so loosen the allens on the stem and at the pivot. The good thing about that stem is that after you adjust it the thing is pretty solid.

One more question though. I have raised the stem a bunch but as you can see from the pics but the handlebars slope down towards the end. Does anyone rotate them so that they slope up at the ends? Is this even proper? I would take it out for a quick spin but it is currently thunder-storming like crazy, guess I will have to wait until tomorrow. I feel like a kid at christmas with my first bike in over 10 yrs. Its staying in my bedroom tonight:D

This 04 Coda Sport has 36 count spokes!:) . Then newer models only have 32. All the better for Clydes

Yes, To rotate the bars, loosen the two allen bolts in the front face of the stem and just rotate the bar to where you need it. Make sure you reposition the handbrake and shifters also if needed too. When tightening the faceplate screws make sure that there is some space between the stem and the face plate. Ie...DON'T only tighten one side of the face plate!

If this does not do it for you, take it to a Shop and see if they can make some recomendations. You may need to go and get fitted to the bike and this may cost you a little money.

Yep, you can rotate the HB, no problem!:)

You may not want to rotate the handle bars. Hold your arms out in front of you palsm down and see if your pinky knuckle ot lower than you index knuckle. Most people's hands naturally angle down towards the outside.

Hate to say it but the bike looks a tad small for you...or is the seatpost out too far. The Richey stem can be adjusted up and an and extender for the steerer tube is an option that will raise the stem up to 4 inches. Nice looking bike.

From here, it looks like that bike's about six inches too short for you. That's a LOT of seat post sticking out. Be sure you're not extended past the MAX mark--if the post snaps off, that's going to ruin your ride.

Now you got me a little worried. I have adjusted the stem and rotated the handlebars so now it looks like this. Here are some closeups of the seat tube I think its O.K. Right?

I think I still need the extender. My bike is a 21.5 inch frame. Does anyone have a pic of an extender? TIA
