Fifty Plus (50+) - More Oregon Coast pictures

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The weather had been a bit iffy for the morning (it had rained over-night) and part of the afternoon, but it got a little nicer by mid-afternoon. So I decided to head out and try to meet up with another rider who had ridden up the Yaquina River via what we call the Bay Road.
Since the weather was looking better, and I wanted to get some pictures of one of our ‘inland’ rides, I took my camera.
Unfortunately, the clouds were still coming in and it was not very good for taking pictures, too dark and gray.
After meeting the other rider about 10 miles inland as he was heading back down river, we headed back towards the coast, and the clouds blew by and we got back into some sun and blue sky.
So I was able to take some pictures of some more of the local scenery where we ride.
This is a picture of the Yaquina Bay Bridge, completed in 1936. The main arch/span is 600'.

These are some sport and commercial fishing boats in the harbor. It stretches along the "bayfront" for about a mile

This is almost out to the end of the Head, the lighthouse, rocks and ocean in view. Sorry this is a bit underexposed, I'm not a "photoshop" person, so didn't try to brighten it up

This is a view back south towards Newport, with Agate Beach, Nye Beach, and farther south in the next view....

The north jetty (entrance from the ocean into Newport harbor), and Cape Perpetua in the distance. The jetty is about 3 miles from where the picture was taken, Cape Perpetua is about 30 miles south on Hwy 101

That is all...

Great pictures!
If I keep seeing these types of pictures I'm going to need to move to some coastal area. I'm a little landlocked here in SW Ohio:(
Very Nice! I'll be at Agate Beach the last week of this month to take surfing lessons, you're photos are getting me stoked for the trip!

And I assume you are bringing your bike?
We try to have a group ride out of the local bike shop on Saturday morning at 10am.
And there are several of us that can ride during the week if the weather is half nice.

I will be bringing my bike, plan to do a couple shorter rides as I can. I'll send a note next week and maybe we can meet for a ride during the week, I won't be there on Saturday.
