That all depends. If your frame and fork have disc tabs welded onto them, then yes you can. If they don't, then no. There is a disc adapter available for most frames, but it's a bit hokey and expensive.

No adapter available for the forks, you'd have to buy new ones.

Assuming that both your frame and fork DO have tabs, you need disc specific hubs. If your hubs have 6 empty bolt as part of the hub flange, then you have disc hubs, if not, break out the checkbook.

Depending on the worth of your bike, it's sometimes cheaper to just buy a new bike with the discs already installed. To upgrade, it can cost you as much as $600.00. Is it worth it? I dunno!

What kinda bike do you have, what year is it, and what discs do you want?

If your bike isn't set up for discs, and you're looking for an alternative to popping all the cash for the conversion, then there are a few things you can do to get great braking out of your Vees:

--recable, and do so with quality cables and new housing.
--use either WTB or KoolStop "combo" pads, the ones that are reddish and black, two tone pads. These two brands work differently from one another, but each are alternatively the best pads you can get. You will notice a difference.
--upgrade your vees to Avid 7's or Arch Rivals, which are on sale everywhere.

Hey, your bike's not junk, and you can make it a lot nicer by carefully upgrading it with an eye to performance. "Carefully" means getting good stuff, but not "overspending" on components that are "drastically" better than your "bike".

If you're looking for upgrades to your brake system, you should consider an all-in-one upgrade to Avids. Your local shop won't be thrilled (because what I'm going to reccomend costs less than what they pay for the same stuff), but you can do these installations yourself (and go to ParkTool.com for step-by-step instructions and diagrams you can print out). You can by Avid combo packs, of the 7 levers and 7 brakes, or the 7 levers and Arch Rival brakes, for $90 or less at either SuperGo or PricePoint. This upgrade will give you brakes you'd normally find on $3500 XC rigs or better. ADD to that, a new set of cables and housings. Get either Avid's Flak Jackets or their Straight Jackets (MTB-brake size) and you'll be dialed-in.

You will notice the difference in your braking and probably shave weight off your bike.

After the first set of pads wear out, swap in the Kool Stop combo pads. You'll notice another difference.

Didnt a few ppl say that they like they way vee's handle better than discs? Besides, it is much cheaper to service vee's than it is discs.
