Why bib shorts for the road, but not for the dirt? Inquiring minds (okay, me!) want to know. :D

I did not know that bibs were road specific? I know a lot of folks that have been wearing the wrong shorts for a long time!:roflmao:

Okay, let me restate my question.

Generally speaking, I see many more road cyclists with bibs than mountain bikers. Is there any practical reason for this, or is this just a style thing??????

ThanX!

Do you ever go to any XC races? A lot of XC racers wear bibs.

....same reason why most mtbers (that I know since most I know aren't xc guys) don't wear typical jersey's or even lycra...I am not going to say what most of us think of jerseys and lycra ;) Crap I will wear regular baggy cargo shorts and all of my real mtb gear is baggy and loose on purpose.

In the end for me and most of my friends, it comes down to look...and comfort :)

Besides it just looks...wrong http://www.usaeurobike.com/VINER/Clothing.htm ;)

So true...and most of the best xc guys do a lot of road as well, especially if they want to stay really competitive :)

Although it's true that I do mainly XC. I find that baggy in many cases just doesn't work for me in tight technical sections because they snag on my saddle as I try and move around. I however don't own or wear bibs mainly because they're a bit too expensive for me.

I ride XC and wear bibs. Like khuon said I don't like it when the baggy shorts get caught on the saddle.

How can you tell someone is wearing bibs if they're also wearing a jersey (as most do)?
