Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Erm, De Rosas are hot and all, but...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The seller also sold a used eddy merckx frame and fork for $1726 recently. A really nice looking frame, but still...

+1. I was wondering that myself.

well....from an email.
"It's a real deal. I got the scoop from the buyer, who seems like a nice
guy.
Basically, he's been hunting for a De Rosa track bike in his size for 3
years now and have yet to find one (I believe him, because I've been
doing
the same thing!). Apparently he stumbled across the auction's bike on a
website somewhere and proceeded to make an offer to the owner that
couldn't
be refused (that's also the way I've bought some of my bikes). The
bike's
owner apparently "legitimized" the offer to buy by posting said bike on
eBay
for the buyer to bid on... so that's why it sold real fast after it got
listed.
Anyways, the new owner is happy as can be since he also has a
sentimental
reason for the purchase. He raced a similar De Rosa in the 80's.
Memories
are worth some monies, eh?
So there you have it. Maybe this should be added to the price guide.
<grin>"
Ah, the pleasures of excessively copious disposable income...

you would think for 5000 dollars, there would be free shipping.

You would think for $5000 the new Trek Madones would have color options.

The problem is that eBay sellers will now try to use that auction as backup for their outrageous prices. As if eBay bike prices weren't high enough already!

This whole thread and no one noticed the headtube angle? Either the angles are playing tricks on me, or that is >80 deg.
