I went out to the trail system (Madison County Transit) up north with the intention of doing about 20 miles leisurely miles taking some photos. It is only the second time I have ridden up there. I ended up taking the wrong trail once and later found out I couldn't find where another trail intersected with the one I wanted to take back. So my ride ended up being 35 miles. I even had a flippin' map. lol

Had a good time, though. Averaged right at 11mph (some of the trails were dirt and crushed limestone and with some leg blowing climbs (for my legs anyway!). Didn't think I could do over 3 hours in the saddle in a day but it wasn't bad. I was pretty wiped out at about 30 miles, though.

Tomorrow, I think I will hang in this area and take it a light 10 miles. Then hopefully hit the trails again Saturday.

It is really varied. It is 85 miles or more of bike/walking trails running through woods, farms, fields, small towns, a university campus, a couple lakes, under some well travelled roads and a couple interstates, etc, etc.

Especially in the morning, it is not very busy and a lot of it is like riding through a very quiet green tunnel of trees. Should be really beautiful in the fall. Have to watch out for the rabbits and deer, though. lol

I have only ridden maybe a third or less of the total trails so far. My goal is to eventually make it to the Mississippi river and cross on an old Rt 66 bridge that is now a bicycle bridge. That will probably entail my first metric century. lol

I am prety lucky in this area. I have 10 miles of paths that start right by my neighborhood. The 85 of the MC trails that is about 25 minutes up the road. And then there is the stuff over across the river in Missouri...like the 200+ mile crushed limestone Katy Trail.

I think someone is angling to get the wife to say ok to a Garmin Edge 305.
