After weeks of no exercise (broken toe) I decided I'd had enough today, went and got air in my bike tires (older trek 820 mb), grabbed a computer from my LBS and went riding. In flip flops (not advised!).

1 hour 5 mins, 14.6 miles, two bridges. The tradeoff to riding downwind for the second half was riding upwind on my first two bridges. It's amazing how much determination a person can develop in your lowest gear giving everything not to have to walk that bike.

I feel good, my ass hurts, but thats to be expected. I dont think I'll push it that hard tomorrow.......

so 230lbs and counting!

Good work.

My wife and I hit the 10 mile mark for the first time today as well after having our bikes for about 1 1/2 weeks. We went at a rather modest pace on a trail though.

Notes from Day 2!

11.6mi, 12.4mph avg speed

Could have gone further but my hands were killing me........Iended my ride at the LBS and got some gloves and bar ends. I'm sure others have said this before, but gloves might as well be a necessity.....my raw, red, and burning palms didnt bother me at all on the way home from the shop with gloves on. What a difference!

Next is a helmet....I almost got creamed by a car today.
