I haven't done this stretch of Highway One since last fall, when they closed it for several months. It reopened a couple months back, and finally I decided today would be the day. I'm guessing that on the weekends, the traffic is terrible, but mid-week it's not so bad and today there weren't many cars at all.
I think this may be one of the most spectacular cycling roads in the country. Long gradual descents with a few hairpin turns thrown in to keep things interesting. Incredible views of the ocean. And now -- a nice smooth road.
The one pic I took doesn't do the views justice. Also, Alpine Lake was pretty nice today too...
