OK, I know the coolest fixies are when you put yours together BUT, I'm not inclined to build ups. So, I wanted to get into the world of fixiedom so I purchased a new Lemond Fillmore for $650, out the door of my favorite LBS. Only upgrades so far where tires and I threw my favorite pedals on, Eggbeaters.

This is my first steel bike ever. Past bikes have been the Merlin Extralight (that I broke), Trek 2300, Klein Quantam Pro, Orbea Starship carbon...

I'm really digging the Lemond. Nice fit, smooth ride. When I originally got the bike I thought first thing to upgrade is the steel fork. Nope, this bike ride is silky smooth. So far I've logged close to 1200 miles on it. My other bike, a Trek 5900/Dura Ace rig, is hanging from my ceiling feeling neglected.

So, for the money, how'd I do boys and girls?

And what up grades would you inflict, if any? Oh, I did put Kool stop brake pads on it.

They have down spec'd that bike quite a bit over the years to hit the smokin' price point you got. I bought it the first year out, so it had a bit more carbon to it. But I agree, the ride of it is fantastic. Really comfortable, and a classic look and feel.

clipless, probably the saddle and maybe the bars.

Really though unless you are a weight weenie theres no reason to replace stuff that isn't bothering you.

Yeah, I've got my egg beaters on it. And the saddle, surprisingly is fine. Just rode to LA from SF on it and I had no problems on the SS. Now, the saddle when I'm riding it as a fixie is another issue....

At 30 miles, I start to have issues or is that normal until I get more time on it as a fixie. SS, I can always coast and relieve my neder region :-O
