Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Do the Aerotech "baggy" shorts have tight fitting thighs?

I ordered me a pair of baggy ATB shorts from Nashbar in size XXL (44-46) which should have been a bit too big on me since I wear a size 42 in jeans now.
Well, they just arrived today and they were so tight around my thighs that the muscle flex of me walking would have ripped the seems! So I'm returning them but still in need of a pair of shorts, hence the title of the thread.
Are the Aerotech Designs shorts looser in the thighs than similar shorts?

Can't answer that question as I wear Lycra.....it's supposed to be tight!:D

I want the baggy ones so that I can have pockets and stuff. Going to be using them for my new commuting shorts and need something that fits in at the library, grocery store, etc.

Aerotech kinda ticked me off with their baggy shorts.

*I* was the one who suggested they make baggy bike shorts. It was when I first started cycling and was a little insecure in lycra. I talked to the lady who basically owns Aerotech via email and she asked me if I'd like to be her "test" subject as she designed some. She asked me for measurements, etc... and I never heard back.

i frequently wear J&G cyclewear "touring short", XXXL size (my waist is 42),
plenty of thigh room.
for really long rides i wear a pair of aerotech classic bike shorts, XXL size,
good thigh room also, plus they don't have the latex stretchy at the cuff.

I want the baggy ones so that I can have pockets and stuff. Going to be using them for my new commuting shorts and need something that fits in at the library, grocery store, etc.

Well, do what I do, when I want to be incognito, but still comfortable on the bike, get yourself a nice pair of everyday shorts, you want ones that go to the knee, or even slightly below, easy when your like many of us, and short for your weight:rolleyes:. Buy them in black, chain grease stains look much nicer on black pants, then on some other colours, some saddles are dyed, and the dye can come off, turning your shorts black in a most embarrassing place.

Now, here is the interesting part, you wear Lycra bike shorts as underwear, you get all of the advantages of bike shorts, the comfort of chamois, less chaffing, good moisture release. You also get the advantage of regular shorts, like pockets, and you don't give grandmothers vapour lock......:eek: If you line up the waists, you can prevent roll down as well, obviously this doesn't work with bibs, but does work with long pants.

Now, even though I have pockets when using this setup, I rarely use them, preferring to put wallet and keys in the saddle bag instead. If you sweat at all, your wallet will trap that sweat, and then you end up, with a clammy pocket.

I already do this. I was just looking for a *single* item of clothing and padded ATB shorts with the compression liner seemed to fit the bill.

I have the same problem with their "baggy" shorts......way, way too tight on the thighs and not long enough.

So I've narrowed my list down to the touring shorts from either J&G or Aerotech.
Anyone wanna give their opinion on these shorts?
