Hi all, hoping I can tap into some of your collective expertise on what constitutes a useful and comfortable long-distance bike. I've started a thread in Classic & Vintage about my "mystery frame" I found at the church rummage sale - I am beginning to think I may actually have found a purpose-built randonneuring bike! Could I ask you folks to have a look at that thread, and tell me if the description sounds reasonable? (Pics to come as soon as I find the blasted charger for the digital camera :mad: )
The short version:
-Boyes and Rosser (Canadian co manufacturing in Japan) lugged steel frame
-26" alloy wheels (possibly running a 650B tire rather than standard 26s - I have to take the tire off and measure)
-tight angles and short top tube
-curved front fork
-drop handlebars with an outward flare to the drops
-handlebar stamp actually SAYS "randonner", or something fairly close in mangled Japanese spelling
-eyelets and braze-ons all over the place!
-triple crankset and 13-28 6-speed rear cog set
It was $5 at the rummage sale.... I feel like I stole it... :eek:
