Bicycle Mechanics - Do I need a Hyperglide Chain?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My chain broke today, so I have to go buy another right now.
The "dork disk" on the rear has HyperGlide written on it. Does this mean I need a special hyperglide chain? Or can I just by any old SRAM MTB chain?
My bike has a 7 speed casette.
My bike is a 2000 (I think) Peugeot Fraser.
Any 6-7 speed compatible chain is OK. Steve
Actually, you do not want a Hyperglide chain. Get an SRAM PC-58, which is compatible with everything except a 9-speed freehub.

So if I put this SRAM chain on my UG bike I can use a Hyper Glide cassette in the rear? Or can the HG cassette use a UG chain?

I only buy PC-58's now and they work fine with Shimano cassettes as far as I can tell.

I asked the lady at the store what would work and she sold me a PC-48. I'm putting it on this morning.
