This Saturday I plan on riding from Red Box on Angeles Crest ,40ish miles to Grassy Hollow Visitor Center near Big Pines and back. There are several extended climbs of 6-7 miles summiting Dawson Saddle out and back at Elev.7910 I was just up there yesterday, the road to Dawson and over the other side is freshly paved and CLOSED to cars.:) You must experience climbing and decending on a brand new asphalt pavement. Sweet. This is a very challenging but rewarding ride with 9000 ft of climbing. The views looking out into the Mojavie are wonderful. Water is available only at Newcombs Ranch and at the turn around at Grassy Hollow which is a beautiful spot among the pines. I called up there today and the visitor center will definitly be open on Saturday and they do have running water but no food. Its 25 miles of mountains between Newcombs and GH so I take a third bottle and its fine. Its always much cooler up there so I've never had problems with water. Yesterday is was kinda chilly up there and when I went down to GMR it was hot as the heck.
I plan on leaving at 8am from the parking lot at Red Box which is where the road to Mt. Wilson cuts off from A.C. Its about 30 minutes up to Red Box by car from Foothill and the 2. An Adventure Pass is also needed to park in the ANF, those can be bought for $5 at the Shell Station at the bottom or some sporting goods stores around town. I would welcome some company, there is nothing too steep just lots of it. :D

Vance, you do realize by saying this, we'll expect nothing less than a Top 3 finish from you at every ride in the future, don't you? :p

Yea, *I* am actually the wussie. My knee is still torqued from ES, so I don't think another double is the prescription (more cowbell, perhaps?). I'm toying with taking a week off, but... nah. ;)

"Fellas, it was sounding great, but I could've used a little more cowbell." Christopher Walken

Dude, The way you put an assult on Baldy lifts the other day, didn't look to me like you knee was hurting.

If your knee is hurt you should take a month off, for real. It could be your seat height or for and aft. After Breathless I went back and had my seat adjusted cause my knee was killing me. He raised it 2mm and it made a difference. Now it only hurts a little.

Would you please? I think the bears up there have been tracking him for awhile and are just waiting for an opportunity to snag him and sauté him in some honey. :p :D
