I have a line on a used Yakima Sidewinder and a used Univega tandem. We already have a Thule rack system on our minivan. I am trying to confirm if there is a way to connect the Yakima Sidewinder to a Thule square bar?

Yes, you need to pop off a piece of plastic. That said, we have our Thule rack attached to our Toyota's factory rack and the Yakima Sidewinder puts to much stress on the rear support. I now have a slight dent in my roof. All I know to do is switch to a tower setup and stop using the factory rack, but I hate to spend the couple hunderd bucks for new towers. I like the design, because we can open the rear hatch with the bike on the rack, but I think the Thule tandem rack that supports the rear wheel, would better balance the load.

No problem this is a Thule square cross bar with Yakama Sidewinder attached to it.

Great. Thank you for the quick response. We do have the full Thule setup with towers so the weight shouldn't be a problem... Except that we already have a Rockymounts tandem mount, with a Trek T900, two singles on Rockymounts single mounts, then add a Yakima Sidewinder and a Univega tandem... Hopefully not putting too much stress on the roof/rack combination.

I would think you'll be OK I also have one single Thule with the Yakama and it hold up well.
