Introductions - Hello from Michigan...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello. Wandered into this forum looking for info on a bike I picked up at a garage sale. A Maruishi Record. Seems like a solid ride. My first bike is a LeMond Tourmalet. Been riding seriously for about a year now. Mostly a runner before that.
Thanks for having me,
John

Hello John, I see you already found the C & V forum. Your Maruishi is very nice, but you must be a tall lad to ride that!
Don't forget to visit the Great Lakes regional forum to see what's happening in your area.
Welcome to BF!

Always nice to have more Michigan members:)
One thing I should ask you, do you know about the Wolverines?
If you run I'm sure you ride at a fairly good pace, so I bet you might enjoy group rides. There are many of us here on the boards who ride with the Wolverines. Great club with great people.
Thanks again all. Yes, Michigander, I have heard of the Wolverines. A friend of mine is a member. When I started riding I rode with a group which my neighbor was a member of (the Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society). They seemed to have lots of rides at the times I was available. Also, I was not riding very quickly at the time and they were very patient with me. During this first year or so, my friend mentioned that I should ride with the Wolverines. Based on discussions with him and a few folks from the AA club I thought it might not be a good idea for awhile. True or not, the Wolverines have a reputation for being very strong riders. I did not (and still may not) fall into that category. Having said all of that, I just don't know for sure if I'd enjoy riding with them because I haven't tried it. Maybe soon... So far the Ann Arbor club offers me a variety of challenges in ride lengths and, more importantly, ride paces. I can ride slower one night and as fast as I possibly can another night if I choose. Again, maybe I could do the same with the Wolverines... not sure.
Thanks again!

Only problem is that these rides are all a decent drive away for you. Might be worth it tro drive out once in a while for the fun ones though. The monthly ride through Detroit and around Bell Isle lead by BF's own Caadman is one superbly fun ride, and it's not too fast paced. If you can go 60 miles on a road bike going any kind of pace, you can handle that ride easily.

I suppose it makes a lot more sense from where you are to mostly ride with the Ann Arbor club if you do some club rides, because that's just a big drive from Canton.
Thanks for the schedule! Looks like the Northville rides would be the only ones I could make and two of them are on days/times I can't ride. I'll keep an eye on the Wolverines schedule and see what happens. Thanks again!
John
