July 21st in the Lake Norman area. There are 40, 65, and 100 mile loops planned. See http://coolbreezecyclery.com/page.cfm?pageId=142 for more info. Sponsored by Cool Breeze Cyclery and Lowes, so should be a well done event. Come out and show that mid-summer fitness you have worked so hard for!

That looks interesting, tantalizing close, and something I may have time to do by the time it rolls around. Thanks for sharing this with us, ridinfool! :) You still ridin' with the Gaston County groups?

The Gaston County Cyclists rides are convenient for me, so I try to do them when I can. I had some type of cruddy sickness last week and did not get out for about 10 days. At the Murry's Mill ride on Saturday's I felt it cost me a month's training - my legs are still sore! Plan to show up tonight for the Monday 'recovery' ride.

I have done that ride many times when it left from Dwight Calloway's house on 16. He always opened his pool to wayward cyclists after the event. Good food, good friends and great roads. I can only surmise that CoolBreeze/Lowes will do a superb job as the start moves to the other side of the lake.

This looks like a really well organized ride. As of now, I'm planning on attempting my FIRST CENTURY at this one!

All I'm sayin' is: Who's Coming With Me?????

I'll be on the 40-mile weinie route. I'm just a little kid among giant distance riders here.

If and when I do my virgin century, it'll be the Hancock Hundred in Ohio. Flat as a pancake. Just right for this flatlander. :D

Just realized that the back-to-back TT and RR in Asheville is July 20-21. :(

But if something happens and I don't do the RR on 7/21, or either event, I'll be on the 40-mile ride. :)

And then I won't ride again 'til the 7/25 TT....

I did this ride a couple of years ago, it was alot of fun. I'm planning on doing it this year.

Ok... the website said the elevation was about 500 ft of total climbing for the 100 mile course... after the first 2 miles, that was proven to be total BS. My question is: Did anyone get the actual elevation for the 100 mile route????

Try going to mapmyride.com and plotting it, it should give you elevation at the bottom. We
did the 62 and it was a lot of fun. Very well supported. Hope it goes more around the lake next year.

I agree. This was a GREAT ride! EXTREMELY well put-together and lots of super nice volunteers at the rest stops. Even the boy scouts were there at the 80-mile rest stop to hold our bikes so we wouldn't have to lay them in the grass/rocks while we re-filled and snacked on the goodies. I'm definitely doing this one again!

Glad that you had such a good time, roadrider and FU. I am sorry that I couldn't make it this year. I just "had" to be out of town....sheesh!
