Hey all, I have been shopping for my first road bike, and I do believe I have found it. However I wanted to see what your feelings are on the bike before I drop the cash on it. It is a 2006 Trek Madone, with full Dura Ace. It fits me well, I rode it around their shop yesterday for about 30 minutes. They are asking 3600.00 for it with just 2 dings in the paint on the top tube. Any likes/dislikes about this bike? I have purchased 3 other bikes from this shop, including my 3 year olds tricycle that can hold 350 lbs max, its awesome, I get the best looks when I roll down the street on it. Anyways I don't think they would steer me wrong, but I want to make a well thought out decision on this before I purchase. Thanks.

Which Madone is it? With the new models already out and blemishes on the bike you may be able to get a better price if ya bargain. But it helps to know the model.

How exciting, Jonny! Good luck. I'm not going to give my two cents becasue there are other riders on here who can and will offer better advice. But whatever you do, be sure to post pics of your new baby when you get it! :D

The San Diego Trek Superstore has the 2006 Madone 5.9 w/Dura Ace for $3600, presumably without dings. I agree with Sean, it ought to be a little lower.

for anything close to that type of $$ there should not be any dings on it.

Indolent, I did not know that there was a superstore in San Diego, and I was just there camping yesterday. I am on the phone with them now, and all I can say is .....ROADTRIP!!!!!

A question though, how does the Ultegra group compare to the Dura Ace?

Ultegra is great stuff. It weighs just a bit more but its good. I have a 5.2sl with Ultegra. Those should be on sale for around $2600;)
