Yesterday I rode from my home in Astoria, Queens, New York City, to Nyack. My route was as follows:

Over the Triboro Bridge to Wards/Randalls Island, then to Manhattan.
Uptown and west to the George Washington Bridge.
Over the bridge and up Route 9W as far as Tallman Mountain Park.
Through the park to Piermont.
Up Piermont Avenue to Nyack.
To the Runcible Spoon. Very nice blueberry/soy milk smoothie.

Turn around and go home by the same route.

Unfortunately, I did this without a cyclocomputer, because mine died a while back and I forgot to get a new one.

Does anyone, perhaps another Queens resident, have any idea how long a ride this was? Rough estimate? I'm trying to keep track.

From 36th and 3rd to the sign that says "South Nyack" was 59.8 miles.

From 36th and 3rd to Astoria (Crescent and 24thish ) is 6 miles and change.

20 blocks is about a mile.

60 + 6 - 4 = 62 miles. That's my guestimate anyway - or you could use http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ :)

Thanks for the link. Handy. I came up with about 55 miles round trip. Probably a bit of an underestimate, since I didn't bother with the twists and turns of my route from my apartment to the Triboro bridge (not too far), and the program is straight-line point-to-point, and can't take into account every bend in the road.

Actually - there's an option to 'follow the road'

Hmmm - Ok I thought there used to be one.
