I got a Giro 26 today and did about 10 miles. My first ride on a recumbent for more then around a store. I really enjoyed the speed I could get. I did notice that my butt was alittle tired after the ride.

I got some Shimino clip pedals and mtn bike shoes... I'm guessing they were too tight. But would welcome any suggestions on relieving the hot feeling....

I ride a Sun EZ Sport and a Bacchetta 20. I too suffer hot foot which is really bad on the EZ Sport. Very mild on the Bacchetta. Be sure to have the straps of your shoes very loose. To describe how loose I keep mine, if I were to cut off my straps, I would not be able to tell the difference. The shoe still stays snug on my feet and never feels like it will come off. Make sure you are wearing a good shoe. I use the Specialized BG Carbon Comp. I rode 43 miles yesterday and did experience a little hot foot at about 2.5 hours. I just got off the bike for a minute and then continued home with not problem. Oh, another important thing is to not mash your pedals. When pushing down with one foot, pull up with the other. another thing I found that helps, is move your seat back a little so that you do not put as much pressure on your foot all the time.

I'm suffering from hot feet whenever the weather is over 75 and about 90 minutes into a ride. My LBS recommended Specialized shoes. I tried on some pairs of shoes. One size is slightly snug and 1/2 size larger is a little roomy. I'm assuming I should go for the extra room on the fit?

Does anyone have experience with Specialized shoes helping to reduce hot feet?

I've experienced hot foot when I've tied the laces of my shoes too tight. It goes away if I loosen them up a little. I usually get a little overzealous with the laces when I get new shoes, so loosening up is part of the breaking-in period.

I currently have Specialized shoes. They fit me OK, but I have fairly narrow feet. (Size 13, B width.)

You'll find that you'll adjust to the new pedaling position, which means you'll spin more and stomp less. Spinning will alleviate the hot foot and the sore butt by allowing more circulation through your legs.

So true, and if you tie the shoes too tight (or have too small ones) during the winter months you'll get the opposite effect....... numb/cold toes.

I use clipless with a mountain shoe. I'm very comfortable except during really cold weather - the shoes aren't for winter riding.
