I'm fairly new to cycling, with only a minor, basic knowledge of stuff. I'm preparing to ride from South Dakota to Michigan with my dad on a "Gluten-Free Celiac awareness" trip. He's going from Oregon to Delaware, but I could only get two weeks off. Check out the updates for the trip at www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/OR2DE
(He and my sister have already started.)
In my preperations I have run into some questions, and since he's already on the road I turn to you. I currently have a Shimano 105 short cage rear derailluer, with a 13-24 cassette and a 52-42 double up front... I know the short cage can manage up to a 28 in back... Now my question is if I change to a 13-28 cassette and a 50-44-28 triple up front, will I have to go to a long cage?
