I was using this forum too often not to join. I'm a member of the SF Bike Coalition and I ride my bike everywhere in San Francisco because I have no car, and currently because I'm working on a project in Kansas; I have a car but I hate to drive. I left my Trek 750 Multitrack Hybrid in SF and figured if nothing else I could use the beat up old Huffy in my boyfriend's garage while I looked for a road bike. I've been wanting a road bike, but even the most rusted out piece of junk is expensive in SF, and I'm an art student who spends most of her money on supplies.
Magically a road bike appeared at a garage sale in Kansas for $15. And somehow it's the perfect size for me, and the fit is beautiful. So I am now a very proud and possibly obsessive owner of a Sekai Limited 2400 with all original hardware (none of which is bent), or so it appears. Suntour shifters, Shimano SIS rear derailleur, Dia Compe brakes and Araya 27" rims. While I'm pleased that these are all functional because they suit me fine at the moment; I am upgrading a few things right now. The saddle, while in good shape, is just a wee bit narrow and unpleasant on anything longer than a five mile ride so I'm replacing it with a Selle Italia Lady Sport Gel Flow. I'm also adding some Tektro auxiliary brakes. Most importantly I need new tires. And because it's a 27" wheel my choices are limited, but still I can't decide. I do most of my riding in urban areas with city funding issues which lead to potholes and of course some glass, but I've never had a problem with blow outs; my main concerns are wet road conditions and speed. So if anyone has any really great reason why I should go with one tire over another I would love it and will probably post something in the forums...but anyway. Hi!
After some looking. The majority of the hardware is from 1977-'78 so I'm guessing the frame is probably a '78 and the rear derailleur is a 2000 addition which would explain the index shifting.
