Anyone have any experience riding on Route 1 between Highland Park and North Brunswick? How about 130 down to Cranbury/ Monroe Township? I seem to recell shoulders for most of it, but I wouldn;t swear to it.

Neil - don't do that Route 1 between Highland Park and North Brunswick, way too dangerous - high speeds, merging traffic on to the shoulder - it's crazy.

Instead of taking 130 downt ot Cranbury or Monroe, you can pick up some alternate routes.

How about Route 27 to Neilson (I think the street by the Hyatt), then make your way to Livingston Avenue or Remsen (better - less traffic but neighborhood can get iffy). I can get you specific, but basically from there, make your way into Miltown, then right onto Riva Avenue - take that to Davidson Mill Road, to Cranbury Road - then you can take that all the way down to Cranbury or if you want Monroe, from Cranbury Road, make a left onto Prospect Plains, and a right onto Applegarth.

If you take Applegarth to the end, you're getting close into Assupink and some really great country roads through horse farm. I've got more info, if you like.
