Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Has anyone raced this before? I'll be racing Cat 5 and I'm curious what the course and field are like. How does it compare to Meadowmont?

Its the carolina cup course, so you might be able to find that.
Ill be racing the u23 class which is awesome that they have it. But it wont be so hotely contested, theres a few really strong cat 1 & 2 u23 that will slaughter any field that there is.

Sucks I'm 23 this year, I wasn't strong enough last year to give the U23 a go...and now I'm too old. Oh well, another 12 years and I can race masters :p
Snuff...you raced Meadowmont, correct? How does the course compare in terms of difficulty?

It was on a different course last year, but from what I understand the course isn't nearly as nasty as Meadowmont.

u23 is going to be a tough race, going to be dominated the 4s snuff?

I don't know the elevation gain/loss, but here's a map of the course:

Organizers aren't offering a 3 race, so I'll be up against the 1s and 2s. Joy.

Hmm...
I did that course a couple of years ago during a Duathlon. IIRC it's not bad at all. Not nearly as suck-tacular as Meadowmont. To put stuff into perspective, it was a Duathlon - so I ran ~2.25 miles flat out before the bike leg, in 30* freezing rain, after putting on 20lbs during 6 months in Iraq, saved something for the second run, rode the course on the hoods...and still averaged 19.6mph. The bike leg winner averaged 20.6.
aka, it's pretty easy :)

FYI, and FWIW: One of my teammates mentioned last night while we were out riding that the course is rather narrow.

If you mean this Carolina Cup race...http://www.carolinacup.com/map.htm ....thenI remember the only places for meaningful attacks are the two slight inclines: one on the back stretch and one right before the front stretch. They are slight inclines and the rest is flat. Jump at the top of climb 1, recover, jump 2and balls to the wall hopefully with some other people. Recover, sit in, fake like you're going to poop your pants and beat them in the sprint. Then jump in the pond.
Good luck.
