What's up?
I ride to work down Damen, between Addison and Harrison. Damen is great because there is a bike lane most of the way. However, right about Washington, the lane essentially disappears, giving way to 2 lanes of traffic. The cars, after being confined to one lane most of the way, love to jet and go flying down both lanes. This makes me extremely nervous and I get nasty looks from many motorists, even though we all end up at the same stop lights anyway, essentially negating any racing ahead that they've done. Do any of you who take this route cut away from Damen for those couple blocks until the bike lane reappears around Congress, or do you just tough it out and keep your middle finger at the ready? Other routes that you find better? Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
