Road Bike Racing - Oh My. The new race wheels are here. Extreme p0rn within.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm so not worthy. I'm just so effing not worthy it's out of control.
(edit) OK, so I got some shots with the real camera. And my wife's reaction? "Oh my God, those are f***ing hot!" I knew I married the right woman. :D
OMG these wheels are so ridiculously light, and they're even the Clydesdale version!
How fast does that tubular glue dry again? :D

The hubs are the 108/208 hubset--the flanged version, like their 'cross wheels.

I'm so not worthy. I'm just so effing not worthy it's out of control. And the nerve of my wife to take the camera to work with her TODAY, of all days!
So here's the cameraphone teaser shot. More to follow, I promise. OMG these wheels are so ridiculously light, and they're even the Clydesdale version!

You can ride on recently glued tubulars. Just don't go hard into any corners!
Oh, and that is a sweet looking bike, but I think that you knew that already.

I can't tell you how warm and fuzzy all those spokes make me feel on such wonderful rims. The value of a spoke has been lost in a sea of marketing in the last 7 or 8 years. Congrats!
i'm not worthy, you're not worthy (especially with such cr@p pics ;)).
btw - seroiusly - time to cut that steerer!
There'll be time enough for steerer cuttin' when the season's done. :D

Nice. Very, very nice. I think it really takes that <ahem> Pinarello </ahem> up a notch appearance wise.
Now you just have to race as fast as your bike makes you look.

That may never happen, but I'll sure as hell try.

Just be sure to let everyone know when Cyclingnews will have a full write up on it for us :D

Yeah, I'm on the fence about the Clydesdale stickers, but I'll give 'em a chance and see if they grow on me. ;)

Now you're guaranteed to win :D I expect CAT-3 by the seasons end :)
You're also STILL on the list for tempting me with evil, evil Zipps. Although, I have to say I'm damned happy with the performance I'm getting out of my $250 Reynolds Alta Races (around the depth of a 303 and ~1500-1600g).

Hehe... All they need is a copy of your military ID and voila... :D
As for the Cat 3 thing, it'll take something special by season's end for that to happen. I'm back to having fun at the races now, though, and as an added bonus I get to rock some super cool race wheels. Life is good. :)
I just got a fancy set of carbon tubies myself (Ritchey Carbon WCS) and it was torture to go through the 3 days of applying a coat of glue and letting it dry before I could try them out. My first ride on them was a race on Sunday. By the way I used the procedure recommended on cyclingnews.com for glueing up a new set of wheels - it seems to have worked well.
Awesome bike Dr. Pete.

Let me know about the stiffness...My 'bones might not be as blingy, but they're rock solid stiff :)
I was looking into a front 808 for the TT bike though.

Hi DP,
I'm not a clyde but I would think that the psych factor for your competition would make me keep the stickers. (ex. "How come I can't drop this guy who is so heavy that he had to buy the clyde version of Zipps?" ;) )
The bike is hot!

those alta race wheels are awesome arent they? I love mine and I was bummed when my front got trashed by that car a few weeks back
Pete -- They look great -- matches your bike well -- just don't ever use the Specialized tires on them. They seem to be cursed.

Fast, light, cheap, and (thus far) durable.
Can't beat it :)

From BDC' Reston GP Roll Call post:
- Overall, the roads (with the exception of New Dominion) are not well maintained. Watch out for potholes.
So are you gonna use these at Reston?
You'll love the 404. I have a front non-dimpled version on my TT (sans stickers).

06-19-07, 07:22 PM
Man! What a beauty, Pete! Those wheels were meant to be on that bike.
Are you racing it at Greenbelt tomorrow?
SaddleBags: Yes, Reston will be their debut, provided I don't screw up the gluing and roll the tire off on the test ride. :)
NoRacer: Yeah, I'll be there tomorrow. No Zipps yet, but I'll be there.
