Right basically, bog mtb std bike, specialized hardrock fs01 99 Acera bits. Can do basic bike maint stuff , ie I’ll give it a go but I’m chancing my arm, especially after spending 50 quid on a maintenance that I could have done myself, I brought it there hoping to sort out what I couldn’t. They advised chain set was bent so I fitted a new chainset, bog std acera but had to do bb as well due to specialized bespoke bits. . So few questions on the way.
Now I look at it it a year later it looks like I’ve still got a wobble in the chainset. Ripped of the rings and put crank back on. Think the prob is the bb but
How can I tell if it’s bb or rings are the problem ?
scored the rims and got a few hops. Trued it ,ish, but not enuff to make me happy bunny so bought my self new set of wheels and decided to get new shimano gear cassette and 9 speed shimano chain to go with it at mobile bike bits sale thingy
Chain is 7 links longer than existing 7 speed set
Is this about right or will I need to knock a few off ?
Duh acera 7 speed shifters , 9 speed gears
Can I get away wit it ? I just want top and bottom don’t mind if I skip a gear or two on the way there
What else do I need to up, rear mech ? chainset ?
Any help mochas appreciated, all the books/sites I’ve seen give basic maint but not compatibility and 1st hand knowledge usually beats bog std guides hands down.
