All of the sudden, two weeks in a row, FOX has live action of the Canadian Grand Prix and the US Grand Prix.

How about that Lewis Hamilton? Freaking skiller or what?

I only get to see two GP's a year, so the announcement that FOX will also carry the French Grand Prix is downright pwner. :)

You guys don't get Speed Channel?

slvoid

I got speed channel but that's not in HD, the fox races are. F1 is ridiculous in HD on fox, it makes you take a dive when you see a F1 car coming out of a corner at you.

I hate hamilton... ooo look at me, I'm so young, I won from pole, ooooo... plllllease, young whipper snappers.

Super aguri disposing of mclaren and ferrari in canada during the last few laps was awesome though, I was like, GO M*****F***ER GO!

I watched the race and was very disappointed by Kimi. For the last two years Kimi has seemed so close, being beaten by an unreliable ride as much as anything else.

This year I was hoping he would hop into the Ferrari and run circles around everybody. Good thing I can't bet on the races.

Actually, I would love to see Kimi get sick or something and see Michael hop into the car and make it to the podium. It won't ever happen, but it would be interesting.

Since I only have rabbit ears, I usually watch the taped race at a friends house and think that I prefer the Speed coverage more than the Fox coverage. Part of it is the face that speed can devote more time to the race.

An interesting tidbit is that the race is 'hosted' from Charlotte. All of the guys fly in and watch the world feed. I'm not sure if there is a few second delay or not.

As for Hamilton, the kid is undeniably talented but I will be curious to see what he does if he doesn't qualify at the front. If nothing else, he is at least a good ambassador for F-1, and it was great to see him and Alonso race for a bit there.

BTW, how could I find about any groups that gather to watch the races?

it is pretty obvious he can drive around ANYBODY on the grid if he has to...haven't you seen the passes on people and especially the juke he put on massa??? massa went clean off the track.

secondly, he had never driven on the canadian track or indy and look what he did: 2 wins....his FIRST 2 wins.

i'm a ferrari guy but i'm telling you now, he will win the championship.

Ferrari seems to be a little behind in their cars with all their failures lately. Coupled with the younger drivers, I think it'll be pretty hard to beat. Plus someone commented that he might've been a bit disillusioned assuming that part of schumacher's magic was in fact, the ferrari. It's like thinking someone's really fast because of their bike and then finally realizing it wasn't when you get the same bike and can't post the same lap times.

Bantam,

If you watch the g-meter when they have it on, I've seen 4-5 G's on brakes, 3-4 G's no corners, it's insane. If you wanna know what that feels like, imagine the worst roller coaster you've been on and double it, while you're driving.

I was on this one ride that shot me up at 4g's and then braked at 3-4g's and I felt like my eye balls were gonna pop out.

What exactly does that mean?

I have no idea, but it's on their commercial.

Hamilton's worst finish is third. =/

I don't think he'll have a problem with qualifying bad, because hasn't yet, and it doesn't look like he will for awhile.

At least, not until he has already won a championship. :)

My only gripe is not enough passing which is facilitated by the fact that those cars do not have internal cooling and they cannot draft. We all know that drafting is the best way to race.

slvoid
06-20-07, 10:10 PM
It's not just internal cooling, it's that they're so sensitive aerodynamically now that there's a huge swath of air behind every car that's considered "dirty" and the more sensitive the car is, the larger they classify that swath.

They need to use IRL or CART type timed push to pass buttons. Actually, the TDF needs push-to-pass type cocaine syringes, only 2 per rider per day.

What are you talking about? They have internal cooling, all cars use external air to cool.
The air is too turbulent to get close, they will lose downforce, which they need because they are braking, turning left and right , through elevation changes and camber changes, and forces NASCAR never sees.

F1 is pretty boring these day however, basically, drivers don't matter much, unless its within a team, and teams are just scales of budgets, with the exception of Toyota, which has the worst cost/performance ratio in F1.

2008 may be better when they finally ban traction control.

I am having fun watch Hamilton unnerve Alonso -he has pushed him into mistakes.

I'm guessing he meant cooling fans, which they don't have. I too look forward to 2008. No more of just stomping on the throttle and letting the computer take you out of a turn. The first few races might have a high degree a attrition
