Foo - bleh waaaaaaa

So late last month I gave serious mountain biking a few tries before deciding it really wasn’t for me. While out on each excursion one of the things i had to contend with was the massive tick population in Ok. I didn’t think much of it because we don;t have aggressive ticks in Alabama. Anyway a few weeks later I developed a rash but it went away in a few days. Then on Saturday I had to leave work early because my knee really hurt. I got home iced my knee and pretty much passed out there. When I woke up later on that night I felt like hell. I had an insane headache it hurt to move my eyes, and a fever that was quickly ramping up. I figured it was just the flu or something and that I would try to sleep it off. Sunday passed and I still had a fever, Sarah told me she was afraid I was going to burn her.

Monday came and my fever broke that morning after near overdosing myself on Aspirin. We went to an unrelated doctors appointment I had, and then headed back home. On the way home she was speaking with her mom who told her that if my fever was above 103 to take me to the hospital. We stopped got thermometer and proceeded to check myself. I got pissed because it read 104. So I went and wasted nearly 3 hours in a clinic for “We don’t know whats wrong with you, it might be ticks take these pills pay the nurse out front, if it gets worse don’t come back to us. go strait to the emergency room.”

And the pills are the best part, you have to take them on an empty stomach or you will throw up, if you eat any dairy product while on them you get severe diarrhea, and they make me too dizzy to ride my bike, not that I had a lot of that planned but it would be nice.

How do your joints feel?

Could be Lyme Disease.

Did you tell the doc that you had gotten into ticks?

Spotted Fever- another disease associated with ticks.

Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. My neighbor had it once. Knocked him on his ass. You did tell the nurse about the tick bite and rash and your earlier symptoms and the time lapse? <concerned Vega look>

Edit: Go to the ER. Now. And tell them all this. Do not go to the clinic.

i told the doctor about the ticks after he tested for a kidney affection and everything came back negative. I think he said exposure to ticks and not something specific is because of liability and the fact as he didnt test me for lyme disease he just made a guess. the worse part was I was trying to leave and die he wanted to show me his pitcures of ullrich from when he followed the tour few years back

i have to wait till my girlfriend gets back to drive me to the er, she wants me to go to the one the next town over her mom works at in an attempt to get decent service the one her sent her home when her appendix burst in their er and she refuses to go back.

Personaly, I could use a good night of severe diarrhea. I dying to find out how the book I'm reading ends.

I'm on a hiker forum and the people from midwest states to the southern states have all been remarking on the tick problem - I mean to the point that when they would go pick up a towel to dry off their face - there's a bunch of ticks on it. Good Gawd - reading those threads make me itch. And I'll be camping very soon too:eek:

Yes and no.

If you catch it quick enough you can cure it.

But after a certain period of time, all you can do is stop it from getting worse and control the symptoms.

Or at least that's what I remeber reading about it from a few years ago.

I was up all night last night, for some reason i have been itching all over. my fever seems to be gone along with most of the pain. Now I am just uncomfortable from the side effects of the medicine I am taking, I am about to try eating for the first time in almost over a day.

I got Lyme disease while I was in NJ - thankfully caught it immediately. One of the reasons I change latitude where we only worry about dengue and malaria. ;)

update. I had two seizures last night and I am in the hospital now. they think it is viral encephalitis. i have had my spine tapped. and waking up several times not knowing where i am.

after three seizures i spent a month in the hospital and lost most of my memory from the past year. it was only digging thru my mail i realized i had a bf account

i am still alive but all my bike are half way across the country and it is killing me. only thing i have right now is my dad's 60's falcon with bent rims, but it is a bike and i am bored.

reading this thread most of you guys like me so i will be trolling around but yes i did get owned

haha, actually i am pretty far from ok, i have spotty memory of the past unknown length of time, like i was just told i was a member of a church that as far i know i have never been to. and my personality on started to reasert itself a day or two ago.

no one is sure what caused the seizures. they are watching me for six months to see what happens next
cant drive, mom wont let me work. so looks like i wont have much else to do but ride my bikes. i will be in heaven once they get here
