Introductions - New Canadian Biker

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Been lurking for a while and finally bought a real bike. (2007 Lemond Poprad) As you can see I like it a lot. Started crosstraining on a mountain bike and quickly realized that was not going to work so I decided a cyclocross was the way to go. Stick mostly to paved and dirt roads / paths so this was the perfect choice. Plus I got a great deal from my local LBS. We'll see if cycling can take over my addiction to running.

Hello SLB Canuck, there's a few threads dealing with the pleasures/pains derived from running versus pleasures/pain derived from cycling, and there's no consensus (except that as one gets older it's definitely easier on the knees to do cycling :) ).
Enjoy your bike, try to ride more than run :D .

Holy cow, look at all the things wrong w/ that pic! Flip the stem, hide the valves behind the fork or stays and put the chain in the big ring/small cog configuration to show how much of a monster you are. :)

What part of Canada? You should have painted the garage door white before posting bike pictures. Get bib shorts. If you are not riding in mud, put slick tires on. Put clipless pedals on the 'unreal' bike, then when you are used to emergency stops, switch them to the real bike. Wish I had a ride like that.

No bib shorts and no clipless pedals for me. I like running shoes and I haven't bought into the idea that clipless pedals are significantly more efficient.
Thanks for the welcome words.
BTW I'm in Windsor, Ontario (very flat area)
