I am going to get a new fork soon. I have a hardtail. I have heard/read that 100mm would be the max travel I would need. I was thinking about a 80-100 adj fork. What do you guys/gals think? Is there a fork that is set at 80? I want to keep the cost to under $250.

I'd go with a Marz MX Comp ETA for $270. It is available with 105 mm of travel or a 85 with an optional reduction kit (not sure how much it costs). Check out the reviews on mtbr.com, they are smoking for the MX! It is a bit heavier than some similarly priced forks (ie RS Duke) but from the sounds of it the Marz makes up for it in ridgidity and buttery smooth operation.

Definatley my next fork, hopefully I'll be able to pick up an 04 in the winter off season.

Depending on what type of riding you will be doing anything up to 100mm will work fine. If you will be jumping or doing drops you may want to consider getting a Marzocchi DJ3. They sell for about $260 though.

If you will be riding mostly XC then I would say look at the lower end Marzocchis then try and get one with the ETA.
