Hi,
I have a 03 Hardrock That I just got and now it has started to make this noise when Im starting off or climbing it sounds like its coming from my crank, Can it be my chain stretching and if so will it eventually go way?
Thanks
Take your chain off and turn the pedals. It could be a number of things, try to isolate it.

Like Troie said, try to isolate it. Are you seated when you hear this noise? If so, it could be your saddle creaking in the seatpost clamp. Did you clean and relube your chain after you got the bike home from the shop? You'll want to clean off the factory grease and relube it with some quality bike-specific lubricant. I like Pedro's extra dry. Finish Line Cross Country isn't bad depending on your application. The creaking could be from your bottom bracket. If the bike is brand new, your LBS should give you a free tune up and take care of the problem without charge. It could just be that you are wearing something in, or something may need to be greased after an initial break-in. Did your bike come with disc brakes? Make sure the creaking noise isn't coming from the rotors and pads rubbing. If you can't figure it out, bring it to the LBS. In most cases, they could at least give you an idea of what it might be. If you've got an LBS that you're on good terms with, they should fix it for free depending on what needs to be done.
