Greetings! I'll be headed up to Washington about once a month for the next few months, for a week at a time each. I don't want to stop cycling, so I plan on bringing my bike with me to get in some miles. I've done some searching around, but so far the only rides I've found have been in the morning, which I would not be able to attend.

Does anyone have a good idea of where I could meet up with local clubs / riders in the evening time ?

Are you actually going to be on Fort Lewis? There should be some excellent MTB riding in some of the outlying areas, like Area 19, or 22. I'm not certain about road cycling opportunities on the post itself, though.

Spoke and Sprocket in University Place does a weekly ride in the evening (Wednesday I think) as well as 8:00 am on Saturdays. Try the Tacoma Wheelmen's website for a list of local rides www.twbc.org also try routeslip.com if you are looking for local routes to ride by yourself. Good Luck

Capital Bicycle Club in Olympia. (capitalbicycleclub.org) I don't know what level of rider you are, but there are Tuesday and Thursday recreational rides (16-20 mph) that start at 5:30 pm. Tuesday and Thursday Fitness rides (18-24+ mph) that start at 6:00 pm. There are also social and skills rides on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Also Wednesday and Sunday beginner rides. These are the road rides. I don't know much about the mountain bike rides but there is a schedule on the website. You will find people of all levels in the Tuesday/Thursday rides.. you can go with a paceline that will really challenge you or you can sit back and relax with the 15mph croud in the recreational ride group (however, that group has folks that keep it right around 20 mph for the entire ride including some pretty good hills)
