I live in syracuse on the north side. Great group rides with Onondaga Cycle club, they had a piece about them in the Sunday papewr. I am always up for a ride. Haven't been out that much so legs are not in peak form right now.

Hello TeleJohn and hypoden,
I'll have to check out the Onondaga Cyclist club, are you familiar with CNY Dirt?

How is Syracuse these days? I grew up there (been in Colorado nearly 20 years now). An interesting trivia fact about Syracuse: The guy who used to head up all the International Randoneurs rides here in the U.S. lived and worked there for many many decades. Don't know if he is still around though, he was like 90 or so when I met him over a decade ago. He rode Paris-Brest-Paris numerous times...on a single speed....after the age of 70!!!!

Syracuse itself, feh!
The surrounding area is great though. Lots of great road riding. Parks. 20 minutes to night skiing. Lighted X-C ski trail in the city a few blocks away. Adirondacks a short drive.

I was born in North Syracuse, lived in Cicero and Brewerton right next to Onidea Lake then moved. I am trying to get back up there to ride but being in the Military my time is short.
Serendipity? I'm from Ottawa and I will be traveling to Syracuse 28/29 July for daughter's soccer tournament. And then you start this thread. Hmmm.
I've been asking myself if I should bring my bike or not. I've been to the Onadaga bike club site and have looked at the route maps. Enticing to say the least. So here's a question: Any chance of hooking up with someone at 6 AM or so for an easy 3 hour ride on Sat or Sun? Or is this just a pie-in-the-sky idea?
Cheers.

I'm a Colgate alumni, been graduated for a few years, but I didn't take up cycling until this May. I can't wait to get back up there in the summertime, with my bike in tow.

Used to ride from SUNY-Oswego during college in the late 1970's. I think I have been chased by every dog in Oswego County. But I'm still alive; where are they now?

I started my bicycling days while at Oswego. My first longer ride began in Oswego in September '74 up to Bar Harbor, ME and then down the East Coast to Eastern Long Island.
Always avoided the frogs on my way out to Nuzzy's! Also used Oswego as a starting point to ride most of the roads in the Tug Hill. Other than Rt. 104 it was a great place to ride.

I'm outside of B'ville ... been riding for 3 years & try to ride a 100 or so each week. Did a B'day ride at the end of September with a good friend ... Oswego and back ... an absolutely beautiful run. Rt. 45 east of Oswego is really nice and Rt. 8 south out of Minetto with the wind at your back ... almost as good as the brew at the end of the trip.
Just got a slightly used C'dale R600. It's a much needed step up from my $100 garage sale Fuji III touring bike and a fine machine for me.

I grew up in western ny and now live in northern ny (adk). If you average those two together then I am central NY!

Where specifically in Northern, NY do you live? I have lived in Heuvelton, Watertown and Copenhagen, NY and I went to school at Clarkson in Potsdam.

Hello, ESM class of 96 here. just joined this forum today because I just bought a used Fuji road bike. I live on Nantucket but will probably be back in the 'cuse sometime in the future. My family has property in Orwell, Mexico, and the house in East Syracuse.
Kinda funny or fate that an old thread is open?

ESM class of 99. Very cool on still having places to go here. I live in Cicero but my family moved to Southern, VA.
SwimBike, I still have family in Canton, actually.
And hey, you can still ride in the snow!
I don't qualify anymore, but I lived in Caz briefly... good riding in those parts!
I bet you can guess from my username :)

My mother grew up in Ithaca! And I applied for a job there so you may be seeing my smiling face on the road
it is a great little city, and a lot of good spots to ride.

I live about 40 min away from Syracuse in sherrill.
I'm in Newark, NY, so I'm about an hour from Syracuse. I tend to bike more out in the Rochester direction but I'm not far away.
