Several years ago, I bought a good quality leather saddle from Terry for $65. Lately, it has started making squeaky noises as I rock back and forth on it. It sounds like metalic squeaking -- not the leather. Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the squeaking? Oil it maybe?

Yes, oil it. At least once a year I have to completely disassemble the clamp that holds the seat on my road bike and use regular teflon fortified chain lube on every surface including the saddle rails. You might as well lube the seat post while your at it, providing it isn't CF. Doing this often quiets noises that I swear are bottom bracket or headset related.

One other piece of advice, use a Sharpie or some other method of making alignment marks on everything that comes apart to ease getting your saddle back where it belongs on reassembly.

The creaking you describe usually comes from the bolt that holds the nose of the saddle to the saddle frame. Yours is not an uncommon problem.

Take the saddle off of the bike and see if you can tighten the bolt on the under-side of the nose of the saddle. It is tricky to get at. If you are lucky, you can access it with your ratchet socket tool.

If the problem persists after the measures already mentioned, also try a couple drops of White Lightning RaceDay where the saddle's rails meet its plastic shell.
