Anyone else going? Only 44 people have signed up so far, so I guess the answer would be "No".

guys that are 6 foot 2 and weigh 146 pounds (me) don't belong at time trials. hopefully going to bike to yellow springs tomorrow to watch the race there, bike up to springfield, crash with some friends from college, race saturday (see note), then ride back home. i am excited cause i will get to see a race and participate in a race without having to drive a single mile. if i am lucky, i might take some pictures that make it onto cyclingnews.

good luck at the tt, guys. crush souls like you were preasortic beasts.

note: the springfield race is a crit and i am pretty sure that i don't belong there either, but might as well give it the old college try.

how did you do? i ended up racing in the 3/4 field. it was fast, my first real crit ever, and my first time racing with 3's. i just stuck to the back (got to registration about 15 minutes before the race, so i got to the line after a lot of the good places had been taken). i think we ended up averaging somewhere around 27.5:eek: it seemed to be pretty easy to hang on, but not easy at all to move up. on that course it seemed to be a huge benefit to stick to the outside, almost no yo-yo thanks to the wide corners. somewhat detracting from the fun of the race was the fact that i had the stupid "umbrella ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh" song stuck in my head. noteworthy: some little dude, the junior national champion was there. he and his bike combined probably weighed in around 130. little monster was in the winning break! seriously talented.

ok, so now that i have heisted the thread, i will revert it back to tt:

good luck tomorrow everyone. keep us updated. crush souls.

he's a really cool dude. i haven't seen much of him so far this year, but he would absolutely crush me in a tt.

We watched the 1,2,3 final there. Insanely fast but slightly boring. Dan from Anthem said he was just over 28 average.

I saw you at registration, in the Anthem kit(I think?)

I was doing alright, attacked on the 3rd lap in but couldn't get the two other guys to work to keep it, so we packed it in for a field sprint. On the last lap I got pinched in a corner and my hooks clipped by one of our new teammates which caused me to slow down so I didn't crash. That gapped me and I spent the last lap catching back up. I caught the lead pack on the last turn, but didn't have anything for a sprint. Took 9th which upset me, but hey, that's racing.

Does anyone know if they're ever going to post the results to the race? The people "running" the race were collectively dumber than a box of rocks and about as sharp as a wet bag of hair. One of the corner marshalls "wandered" off course so one of my teammates missed the turn and DNF'd. And of course, they were late in doing everything. Completely unprepared in dressing areas also. The municipal facility was closed until 8:00am sharp, so I either changed in front of everyone, or in a porta-crapper that hadn't been emptied in at least three months.

I thought that with the word "Championships" in the race title, they might be prepared/civilized. And have you ever tried changing in a Jeep Liberty!? The rear seat cuts off the circulation to your legs, and the front isn't much better.

horrible. embarrassing. i was so frustrated i literally threw my helmet down, strapped the bike on the rack, threw everything into the car, and left without waiting around and watching. right now i'm thinking that is it for me; i've just about decided i'm outa the TT business. i've been trying at this for too long, and worked too hard, and spent too much, and shown no improvement. i think it's time for me to accept that i'll never be fast. for once i could breathe, and today the legs didn't show up. 5 miles down course and i'm already so far behind my planned pace there was no way to get it back. and at mile 13 the legs just shut down. i'm so fed up i can't stand it. i'm honestly thinking of getting rid of all the TT equipment and sticking to road races. /rant over/

Well, I got 1st in my age group, 2nd overall in Juniors. This one other kid is a year or two younger than me and insanely fast. But I think he's been racing for two years, and his dad is fast, too. Well, I told myself I'd win last night, I guess I did! But still, 44 seconds back in second is pathetic.

Race a track race, you're mantality will totally change and so will your approach to every race you enter thereafter.

well done, young man! first in class, second in show. excellent! no flies on that! just one left to beat. that's not too bad!

i had made a mental note to find you and say howdy after the race, but i was so mad i forgot all about it. rude of me. sorry

there's nothing wrong with my mentality; the problem is with my physiology

CrimsonKarter21

Eh, it's alright. I was out of there in kind of a hurry, too. The Juniors were the first to start, and TT's are so boring to watch. I went to Bob Evans' afterwards and ate my weight in pancakes.

But yeah, change your mentality and your physiology won't matter as much as you think.

Thanks Smoke, BTW, where you from?

I thought COBC did a great job. I did hear about the marshal not being in place and two juniors went the wrong way. They were great for us though. This race was run smoother than about 95% of the races I've done this year.

As for changing, I keep a towel in the car.

nice job on the top 10. i was top... 40, maybe. in hindsight, i wish i would have doubled up in the 3/4 and 4/5 race. i bet your race was a lot more fun than mine was (basically just cruising in the back and paying stiff penalties for getting in the wind). plus, one of the guys in your race was rocking blue jeans. that immediately makes your race superior to mine. i was indeed in an anthem kit rocking the 22lb steel jamis that you probably remember from renaissance. sorry i didn't see you, i was probably freaking out because i got there so late.

things for me to remember for next time:

1. start up front
2. get to the front early, so i can recover before the sprint
3. make sure computer is reset (d'oh)
4. inside is where i pass, outside is where i rest
5. don't listen to g/f's music before a race.

Yeah, I was going to race 3/4, or double up, but I got there late and hate to rush. I'm going to bump up to the A's tomorrow night though at Renn Fest. We'll see how that goes.

You know, here we have native Ohioans dissing their own state. Yet for all the crap NJ gets all the time, most of the people who live there LOVE it. I grew up there, I love NJ. I will be doing most of my TT's in NJ too.

Jersey RULES.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled BF hand wringing.

The best thing about jersey is that the gas prices are low.
