Southern California - Encino Velodrome Swapmeet this Saturday!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm glad Ken sent me an email about it, because I swear I couldn't find it on their website in the months of April or May and I knew it was coming up. I might ride my bike there, but that might cause a problem if I find a frame I just can't resist.

edit: fixed because previous link was to last year's Fall swapmeet!

Sounds like there might be a low turnout this time because it's not being advertised very well. I live 1 mile away so I'm going to drop by, but it's hard to see this place deteriorate like this.

The racing turnout has actually been improving quite a bit, partly due to there being race series with overall awards (Hansing Cup, Socal Track Cup). Al (the current race director) has even put ads in some newspaper that's local to Encino. It's still a lot of fun racing there. Even though I'm not a sprinter I'll be there to keep my spot in the Hansing Cup.

I went, and even brought a small box full of stuff and my mountainbike to sell. I made $20 ($30-$10 seller's fee). It actually had a very nice turnout because it's starting to attract a lot of vendors. 2 or 3 shops and 1 or 2 manufacturers showed up with a van or trailer full of stuff. Old vintage stuff, new stuff, and everything in between.

Suzie Avchen was shocked to see me, and didn't recognize me at first because she last saw me when I was 16. Ken had seen me last year so it was no surprise for him.

I stopped by for a about an hour. Didn't go home with anything but had fun looking through all the old parts. Some 1986 Look clipless monsters were the highlight for me. They were huge.... and plastic. I wish I had taken a picture of them.

I got there around 4 o'clock, so I guess all the good stuff are gone. I did pickup an aero seatpost. I had my hands on a really, really awesome XTR seatpost, but the seller came out of his van and took it back (not for sale). Dammit.

I saw those too.
