"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - What does cat 4/5 mean?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I expect it means that the fours and fives will be riding together, but do they typically get different classifications too, or are they lumped together?
The race is the Mountaineer stage race www.wvucycling.com.

Both categories race together. It's up to the promoter to decide whether they're scored separately IIRC.

Thanks you two.
Should be interesting then. This is my first USCF race, and my last collegiate race was two months ago. I raced C then. Will also have my first (non hillclimb) time trial!
Just race smart. 4/5 races can be kinda scary because there's a WIDE range of experience in the peloton. Just ride predictably and don't over-react to things. like if someone touches/bumps you.
And have fun!
