Instead of taking a shower, ride in a deluge.
I jest, I jest!
Yesterday, I had two hours of commuting round-trip, and both times I got caught in scattered heavy downpours. Wouldn't you know, in between the trips it had stopped raining.
When I started out, radar indicated most activity was to the south, and it wasn't a big system, just some spotty activity here and there. But in the middle of the ride in, it was like the clouds decided to open up and dump big time.
At first it was little sprinkles. I passed a commuter wearing a business suit and wondered if he was worrying about these little raindrops. Then a few blocks down the buckets came, and I knew this guy must have ducked under some awning.
I was really annoyed at first, but then being soaked became a non issue and I began to enjoy myself again. When I arrived at my destination, peopled remarked "I was worried about you knowing it was raining so hard" as they threw towels at me. I shrugged and dried off as best I could.
Going home was the same. My biggest concern was getting a flat, as I've learned from experience that flats are more frequent in wet conditions (sharp stuff sticking to your tires). As long as I was moving I was fine, but if I had to stop to fix a flat, I would not be a happy camper.
When I got home, I felt like I had done laps at the pool. I love the rain.
