Probably a silly question but how do you guys pronounce Latigo?
LA ti go, La TI go, or La TEE go? I think I've heard it pronounced all three ways.

ME-- Everyone who comes to visit me pronounces Sepulveda wrong! It's gotten to the point where I can't wait to see what my friends from back home will come up with. My sister was the best-- SeppulVAYda.

It probably should be La-tee-go but the locals call it Latigo...tough to put it in phonetics. Watch the movie "Point Break" there's a mention of it at one point.

A friend of mine from back home in hickville, NC always pronouced it SEEpullVAYda. So that's how I pronounce it now.
I pronouce Latigo la ti go. The ti part like tit, without the last t.
Ballona Creek is like baloney, execpt with an a at the end, as opposed to the ey.

I grew up in that area, and we all pronounced it LA ti go as white as can be. It's probably not the originally intended pronunciation, but it's the locally accepted one since the area is 60% Jewish and 35% other anglo races.
If only you guys knew the way I first pronounced cahuenga or tujunga (did I even spell them correctly?)

This may be old, but a latigo is the strap that is used to pull the cinch tight on a saddle. I've been around stables all my life and have never heard it pronounced any way except lat-ig-oh.

I did not know that. Actually, I had just assumed it was another name from the early days in Agoura, like Kanan and Reyes.

It's difficult to brag about graduating summa *** laude when you're not smart enough to know how to pronounce your academic distinction.
