Road Cycling - Toronto Riders

Hey, I was reading the Club Rides thread and I suddenly developed an urge to look for weekday riding partners :) Maybe a little Toronto group if there are enough people.

I know it's a long shot but I'm wondering if there are any Torontonians around here that would like to go on some weekday rides with a 19 year old student of average riding ability? (me :D )

I usually ride solo on weekdays and it's getting pretty dull. My weekends are usually spent riding with D'Ornella's Racing Club so at least it's not that bad :)

Well i use my mountain bike on rides with TBN. I usually go for the 30-40km rides, 42km my absolute max i've done so far. Since u go with D'Ornella's aren't the rides REALLY long? I heard it's like 65 and 72km rides... I'm 19 too btw, but i'm not THAT fit lol..i'm looking for a used road bike though...that i can hopefully buy for $50-100 at a garage sale.

Well...they have rides around 65km - 120km depending which group you ride with :)

lemme know if you ever get a road bike and you want to go on some rides!

Contact WorldIRC- he's out in Toronto and almost your age- and he's got a road bike, if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure he'll be happy to go out and hit the open road with you sometime!

Kennith, at D'ornellas, is their a mountain bike club? And do you guys do frequent stops on the 65km ride? I want to try it one day, but i don't want to be like left behind right at the start..i'd feel like an idiot.

The shortest ride is 65km - 85km depending on the general mood of the group. Also depending on the group, the average velocity ranges from mid 20s to high 30s. As far as I know..there isn't a mountain bike club :) You can always chagne your tires to slicks and check it out.

Don't worry about getting dropped...I got dropped once on a bad day :)

Hahah..i have lots to worry about! I can't do mid 20's YET on my mountain bike CONSTANTLY for a long duration of time... Well i'm looking for a used road bike instead of getting slicks since i could use the road bike when i go back to school. Can u keep an eye out for any cheap road bikes u see? Thanks

Oh, I c. Why don't u try TBN? They have 100km rides out in the country.

I went to Yorkmills Collegiate b4. I'm 2nd yr Pre-Opt Student at Waterloo.

I go to Westmount in Thornhill and now that I am moving I may be at Williams in Aurora.

I'm 20 next month, GOING into 2nd yr in September. So that would make me a "Regular" person lol going through the regular years.

Your a cyclist. We're a minority. How normal can we be?
