I'm from Québec, Canada, and I'm use to fuel my MSR Wisperlite with white gas. Is it easy to find white gas on your side of the Ocean? Or is it better to get a propane/butane cartridge stove? Or Trangia alcool stove?
I like my good old MSR Wisperlite, I know that I can repare anything on it and feel confident about using it.
Thanks for all advices,
and hope to see you on the road!

I'm pretty sure you can buy it here but check out some camping stores in the UK like Blacks or Millets. I have seen MSR products here including Dragonfly and Wisperlite, and you can buy Primus's new butane/liquid fuel duel-fuel stove here so I assume you should be about to get what you want.
I just got a mail from Millets customer service saying that they don't sell white gas (or coleman fuel). Even if I saw on their web site that they sell stove using this type of fuel.
It start to sound a bit complicated so I think I'll go for propane/butane...

I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to get it here. According to this site it's commonly available.

Maybe you have to buy it from petrol stations.

Yes it is easy to find, so bring it over with you, I use it in my MSR. Millets is a joke so don't bother with them. Depending on where you'll be, but look out for branches of Blacks (most big cities), Cotswold Outdoor, Field and Trek. If you finish up the lake district (great cycling country) you'll have plenty of shops to chose from :)
