I am going to ride from Huntington to NYC, do a few laps in CP,head downtown along the bike path and then take the train back.

I am looking for suggestions on getting around the LIE service road mess where it meets the Fairgrounds. I am wondering whether to cut into the park and come out near Roosevelt Ave or hazard the road and get across the GCP and go up to Queens blvd.

The first could take me towards the Triborough; the second would get me to the 59th street bridge.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Would make more sense to already get off the service road at Douglas Parkway and follow the bike route onto the 73rd Avenue bike lane. Then follow this route to the Grand Central, into Flushing Meadows Park. Go north through the park and exit on the west side in the Terrace on the Park area onto 111th Street. Go north on 111th Street, cross Roosevelt Avenue and turn west on 34th Avenue. This puts you on the 34th Avenue bike lane which will eventually take you to the 59th street bridge.

The Triboro is more than twice as much work to cross since you're actually crossing two bridges, and it's got stairs to boot. If you wind up in Astoria, near the Triboro, just take Crescent Street south and it will take you straight onto the 59th Street Bridge bike path.
