"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Armstrong is ok, but he can't ride for a week.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

According to my Mother, this is what the Dentist said as I was walking away from having my wisdom teeth removed this mornong. We had talked about cycling during my pre-op Tuesday and this morning through the laughing gas, so the good Dentist nicknamed me Armstrong. I'm not feeling too terrible, but I will follow orders, I'm just bummed because I am in full training mode for my first race in 4 weeks.
I will use this week as a macro-rest and I will be getting a coach.

My heartrate was 59 while he was sticking the IV needle in my arm and my BP was 110/72.

Sorry for the slightly invcoherent paragrapgh structure; pain meds mess with my head a bit.

Don't sweat a few days off. You'll be fine. Don't overreact and try to make up for anything.

Have fun in your first race, and pay careful attention so you can learn from every one of the many mistakes you'll make ;)

Rule of thumb: Cut ~ 50% off of typical doctors rest orders

In your case, 1 week really equals a few days, or until you feel good enough to at least sit on a trainer

Wow, were you able to decide that over the internet without knowing anything else about the patient, the procedure they had done, or how it went? Impressive.

I have no intentions of overdoing it or skipping out on doctor's orders. Re-injuring myself would only set me back farther. I will be taking care in my first race to pay attention and to NOT OVERLAP WHEELS. That cost me a pair of shorts on Tuesday.:o

While I think I am more resilliant than the average patient, I am not going to be an idiot. Dr P (my dentist) said he had to make a few extra cuts than normal and stitch my mouth.
I intend to use this as my normal macro-rest week, finish talk with and hire a coach, catch up on a bit of work, and try to overeat a bit so I can gain a bit of weight so I have something to burn in the coming weeks and months.

I had those done years ago, I was laying in bed in pain, fell asleep, there was a fly in the room who apparently landed on my face, the cat jumped on my face and put his claws on my cheeks, leaving a nasty painful mark..
boy, did I feel sorry for myself that day:o

I had an implant put in along with a crown reduction, (gum removal) on the lower front teeth on the 21st. Today I am going for a "Varied Intensity three hour ride), in the hills. (probably do a good portions of the Hill town Tour). The doctor was good with two days of rest just stop if i start to bleed. The fact that I can't eat any real "solid" food is not a problem when you can make protein drinks and you have a good supply of hammer gel.:D
