Well, I'm on call for my job until July 1st which means no beer for me now. However, once my on call rotation is over, I think I'll indulge in a Sierra Nevada. Yesss!!

I also like most stone beers. I also have a ton of recommendations for VA microbrews, but they aren't here. Oh, and Murphys stout - way better than Guinness.

I just had Shiner Hefeweizen this weekend...not a bad Hefe, for Texas.

Also, I'll say it again, but after working your butt off in your yard in 95deg heat all day, NOTHING beats an ice-cold Corona.

Not the best for sipping and 'enjoyment', but that stuff's like Gatorade when you're exerting yourself.

Budweiser - Yeah, anytime! (The original one, of course). If not availabe, then Sam Adams - one of the best mass production beers I have ever tasted.

Why?

Bud Light - 110 calories
Sam Adams Light - 124
Amstel Light - 99
Corona Light - 105
Becks Light - 65
Guinness Draught - 125

As you can see, there are other comparable caloric-intake brews available, why limit yourself to that horse piss? PS. when I'm in the mood for horse piss, I'll drink a Heineken (150).

Excellent point Mo! :D However, I'd rather support the local horse (BTW, I think this is why so many Bud ads feature horses). Oh... and never the "light" horse by-products  . Hey, most of us burn more calories on a lazy Sunday morning bike ride than your average couch potato burns in a week. :D Leave the light beer to those guys.

Yeah, I'll drink anything brewed by Stone. Arrogant ******* and Ruination have to be my favorites. Bear Republic has some good offerings, too. Racer 5 is a great IPA and I'm pretty fond of their Hop Rod Rye.

Other than those, I brew my own beer and that's what I drink most of the time.

I didn't buy the horse piss, my father in law did. I am also of the opinion that a crappy beer is better than no beer.

PS. check the OP-I did include a disclaimer about the flavor of butt wiper. I guess I'm just not a beer snob.

To be fair, everything on that list but the Guinness is equal in nature to horse piss. I'd just assume take the Bud Light over any of them. At least Bud Light doesn't have much of a taste.

Sam Adams Light is surprisingly good, and doesn't taste at all 'light' to me. Also, adding a lime to Corona Light (actually adding lime to any fizzy yellow beer) makes it taste like regular Corona.

I'm not a Becks or Amstel Light fan..at all.

And Oleanshoebox, I AM a beer snob. My nose is upturned in your direction.

I'll take a Bass over pretty much anything any day. A Bass or a Shiner Bock. A Bass, Shiner Bock, or Stone Levitation. Bass, Shiner, Levitation, or Boddington's. Bass, Shiner, Levitation, Boddington's, or Newcastle. Bass, Shiner, Levitation, Boddington's, Newcastle, or Negro Modelo.

It's pretty simple: if you live in southern California, you don't need to drink any mass-produced colored water. Off the top of my head, here is a list on regional breweries (please forgive any obvious omissions):

Stone
Ballast Point
Alesmith
Pizza Port/Lost Abbey
Lightning
Karl Strauss
Firehouse
Angel City
Craftsman
Green Flash
Oceanside
Coronado
Alpine
San Juan Capistrano
Skyscraper
Oggi's
BJ's
Not to mention several other chain and independent brew pubs

Please do yourselves and our dear brewing friends a favor. Put down the Bud/Coors Light/Corona, and step away. There are plenty of high quality, locally made ales and lagers to satisfy your needs.

So very good!!

I actually don't like Sam Adams in any of its varieties. I won't discuss Corona, it's drinkable in the same circumstances bud light is drinkable.

I prefer Belgian beers. Affligem, tasty.

I also like Hefeweissens.
