Just got back from a pre-crit dinner and am now at the house I'm housesitting at for the next week.

Let me introduce the inhabitants:

Spike the 4 foot iguana (currently eating his salad that includes veggies, fruits and dill pickles of all things)
Inky the 3 legged rabbit (who has an anger issue with his water bottle - and who is sitting just to the left of me - oooooohhhh I'd love so much to extract that water freaking bottle!)
Chloe the bad beagle (fat snausage who requires me to wear sneakers at all times in the house as she tends to PSSSFT a bad thing out - can we say ... golf poos? - at random because she really isn't potty trained), and
Badger the new shepherd puppy who is too big for her britches and loves to lick and chew (my friend's son is now minus some sort of super hero character as I just stepped on a chewed off leg).

Oh almost forgot the two cats, one is good and is allowed in the house, the other is bad and she (a strikingly beautiful long haired white -and feral cat) lives in the basement because it leaves bad things on their beds).

:D

Such is life of a single woman, we get to go do things while other people are off doing, well, couple things.

And I'm still muttering over my mtb that was stolen last night.

May yours be slightly better!

May yours be slightly better! You are an amazing friend to housesit for people with so many beasties. I am having a hard time even asking anyone to stay with my ~one~ somewhat incontinent, blind, sweet-as-Sugar doggie for a week.

That really sucks about your MTB being stolen, particularly with all the things along with it!

Check CL and the local fences for your bike. If you find it, call the cops and sting those suckers. Bring the poo spewing dog for added insurance. Good luck!

Yeah - the Hummer is no more. I was retiring it to be total commuter and total winter play toy (probably cause I beat on it so much - but I was rebuilding it too) and am in the process of purchasing a better mtb to better do what I want. Stupid "kids" around here. Four 16-18 yr olds in a car - one got out while I was standing for less than 40 seconds in a corner store and was standing behind me in the line at the store - had a long time friend watching the bike too. Kid jumped out of line - made a bee line for the bike and ran, then kind of rode off with it. Where I live - is total downhill crap in the city. Plus I'm known around here for riding this unique bike as well.

Sucks cause I really need it due to being a commuter - plus I like messing around on it. Cops really don't get the thing about the fact that NO ONE has one of these bikes. Spent the day changing locks to my house as, of course, all my info, bike tools, better lights were on the bike. Roadbike is not a good commuter for the nasty potholed city at all.

Doubt I'll see that one again. Ahhhh, city living :(

At the pre-Crit dinner - talked with a couple other guys who just had ALL their bikes stolen (5 nice Tri bikes) within the last couple of weeks. Rather sucks to think that someone is out there selling these nice bikes for a freaking $50!

Chloe the bald eagle? I didn't think it was legal to keep them as pets. Oh, thats my dyslexic reading. The bad beagle!

With all of your contacts thru the Roch. bicycling club..that Hummer should be pretty hard to sell without somebody hearing about it, and pretty hard to ride without being seen.

I hope you get it back.

Huh, if you got a look at the kids, you should be able to ID them quick next time you see them. Maybe get a new bike, dress it up as a beater and lock it up wherever you go.

Ya think - but most of them live in out lying areas, but even still I sent an e-mail to the Pres to see if I can do a broadcast e-mail to members, but it is the hardcore city mtbers that will see it - if at all - and I sent them all an e-mail as well. Even if they repaint, etc - the top "tube" - being a folding and all - is still unusual. I work quite closely with the criminal justice unit in the city due to my college job - will be in there Monday am to see what I can do with the info that I have. Pretty sure that it's going to be sold cheap to some doink in a bad (oh, I should say Badder) part of town, if they even figure out that they need a special tool to remove the clipless that's on it without stripping it out. :( <sigh>

Thanks :)
