Mountain Biking - pics from my trip to northstar on july 4th

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Have fun in Downieville.
Check out Haypress Valley in Sierra City.
Haskel Peak North of The Buttes has some nice roads/trails/views.
Lots of cool places there.

I used to go all over that place in a Ford Festiva! Haskell has a lot of cool places that are very out of the way and the road network will take you to all kinds of places. Once I accidentally dropped in on the White Hawk Golf course. I was just cruisin through the trees on no trail at all and all of the sudden I was on the golf course.

I've done that to quite a few golf courses. There's one exclusive golf course that's adjacent to the trails right near my house and the golfers there get really surly when I take a wrong turn and pop out of wooded singletrack right onto their pristine green. Ewps.

Northstar looks a lot different in the summer; thanks for the pix! When we used to ski there, we called it Flatstar. Probably not so flat on the seat of a bike, though, eh?
I hardly ever go to northstar in the winter cause its so damn expensive! Go to boreal and donner ski ranch most of the time cause there are hardly ever lines cause its so small. Its great mtn biking in the summer though ... lift ticket is like $30 on the weekends and pretty cheap in the week ... defintiley gotta go again before winter.

Overstock.com has some mad-cheap digital cameras (http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=CATLIST&PRO_SUB_CAT=222&PRO_SSUB_CAT=68) right now. The trick is finding one that's small/lightweight, at least 1MP, has enough memory or expandable capacity for at least 50 shots (at a reasonable resolution/quality) and has a flash (very important because MTB activities often occur in low-light conditions such as in the woods) for under $100 which is the upper bound price of what I consider to be "expendable".
These look promising although some maybe a bit big/bulky/heavy...

The problem with disposable cameras is the inability to adjust the shutter for action shots. Every moving shot you take ends up like a colored blur on an odd landscape.

What about picking a camera that's preloaded with faster ISO to influence the shutter speed and/or low-light conditions?
